Arizona’s ABC15’s Dave Biscobing talks about his relentless, months-long investigative series that stopped a self-described “advocacy” group from collecting millions by exploiting the Americans with Disabilities Act.

In his duPont award-winning series, “Cash for Compliance,” Biscobing gets the goods on the group for filing more than 1,700 lawsuits in just six months against small Arizona businesses, to fill their own pockets. Biscobing confronted a shady lawyer and a disabled plaintiff whose injuries miraculously vanished while hidden cameras rolled. The group was on track to scam millions until Biscobing pulled the plug.

Biscobing tells duPont-Columbia Director Lisa R. Cohen how he withstands hours of unrelieved hidden camera surveillance just to get that 10 second shot that catches his subject in the act. "If we think it's vital to the story, we'll probably do whatever it takes to make it happen." He also talks about how it felt to be called “fake news,” and offers advice on pushing beyond the who, what, when, where and why to bring his viewers the “real news.”
